City Planning $1.7 Million Detention Basin At Warner Park
posted November 4, 2009

The city is set to award a $1.7 million million contract to Thomas Brothers to construct a detention basis at Warner Park.

Officials said the basin will be placed under a parking lot and will collect and store rainwater during heavy downpours.

Several detention ponds were constructed earlier at the park, including one at the former site of the Warner Park Rose Garden.

This one is necessary because the Chattanooga Zoo located at the park and other sections of the park continue to suffer flooding problems, it was stated.

Officials said this is the last water dentention facility planned at Warner Park.

The contract is for $1,703,999, plus a contingency amount of $170,000.

Also, the city plans to award a contract to Bradanna, Inc. to construct Fire Station No. 7 at the Enterprise South Industrial Park.

The contract amount is $1,879,000, with a contingency in the amount of $187,900.00, for a total cost not to exceed $2,066,900.

The City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution authorizing a contract with Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. for the brownfield cleanup projects at the Ohls Avenue glass field site and the Anchor Glass office building site.

The amount is $59,565, plus contingencies totaling $18,000, for a total amount not to exceed $77,565.
