Man Installing Fiber Optic Line In East Ridge In Critical Condition

A worker suffered an electrical shock while installing fiber optic cable in East Ridge on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3 p.m., East Ridge Fire/Rescue and Police responded to the Lomenaque Apartments at 4145 Ringgold Road.

Firefighters arrived on the scene in one minute to find an injured man who had been working as a subcontractor for EPB.

Firefighters worked quickly to clear the man’s airway and started CPR. Life Guard EMS responded to the scene and transported the man to Erlanger Hospital.

The injured worker was identified as Jessie Steele of Chattanooga.

Mr. Steele is listed in critical condition today.
