Tennessee American Water presented a $15,000 check to the Tennessee Aquarium to help support the River Gorge Explorer’s naturalist program. The River Gorge Explorer is a passenger ship operated by the Tennessee Aquarium. The naturalist program teaches River Gorge Explorer passengers the importance of the river from the standpoint of commerce, recreation and the source of drinking water.

It also helps individuals understand why protection of the watershed is important.

Tennessee American Water President John Watson said, “It’s vital that we partner with organizations like the Tennessee Aquarium to improve public awareness about this important asset in our community. We both support the need to protect and care for the Tennessee River, the water source we use to provide the citizens of Chattanooga and surrounding areas with their drinking water. In addition to being a long-term supporter of the educational programs offered by the Aquarium, Tennessee American Water cares about the river and the environment, as does the Tennessee Aquarium and that makes for a great partnership."
