Rowers Rescued After Head Of The Hooch Mishap posted November 7, 2009
According to Lt. Dusty Rose with the Chattanooga Fire Department, two 9-person boats collided at around 9 a.m., knocking one of the boats into a buoy. Upon hitting the buoy, the boat from the Louisville Rowing Club (Louisville, Ky.,) became swamped with water, putting all nine rowers into the water. The Chattanooga Fire Department fireboat immediately responded to assist the crew members, who were now in the cold water. Once on shore, they were checked by Hamilton County EMS personnel. No injuries were reported. The boat that became swamped was successfully towed to the shore by Volunteer State Water Rescue.
