A motorcyclist was killed in East Ridge early Saturday morning, while his female passenger suffered only minor injuries.
The victim was identified as Samuel James, 53, of Rossville.
At approximately 2:59 a.m., East Ridge Fire Rescue, Police, and both LifeGuard EMS and Memorial EMS units responded to the intersection of Spring Creek Road and San Hsi Drive.
Police units arrived in just three minutes to find a Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle had crashed and a man and woman were lying on the ground.
Firefighters and EMS personnel immediately began lifesaving measures. However, the man (Mr. James) was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. James’ body was transported to the Hamilton County Forensics Center.
East Ridge Police traffic officers are continuing their investigation into the accident. Both speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the single-vehicle crash.
