She had been a member of Highland Park Baptist Church for 69 years and was a member of Railroad Employees Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Thompson; her son, Scottie Thompson; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Nell Scholtz of Chattanooga; one son, Henry Thompson of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Karen (Steve) Pope, Greg Thompson, Sherry Thompson, Johnny Thompson and Mike Munson; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Circeo officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
