In honor of Veterans’ Day, Silverdale Correctional Facility is honoring its veterans and active duty military servicepersons through commemorative facility efforts and online initiatives. Silverdale Correctional Facility is one of 65 correctional facilities nationwide owned and operated by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). CCA employs 17,000 employees and approximately 10 percent are veterans.
Using the company’s online news site as an interactive forum, employees throughout the company have shared appreciative messages, comments and experiences to recognize former and present military servicepersons. Their responses are featured in an article entitled “Courageous for Our Country: Celebrating Veterans’ Day.”
Along with special online recognitions, employees at Silverdale Correctional Facility are displaying a memorial board in the lobby and giving a special gift to show appreciation for co-workers that have served in the Armed Forces.
“We greatly value the discipline and loyalty that our veterans bring to our team. CCA’s Guiding Principles align with many of the values of our Armed Forces and when veterans trades in their service uniform for the CCA uniform they can jump right in and help us in our facility goal of striving for excellence” said Paul Jennings, warden of the Silverdale Correctional Facility and United States Army veteran.
