Mix Master Mike Headlines MainX24’s Annual Party
posted November 10, 2009

The third annual MainX24 block party along Main Street is set to take place Dec. 5 and along with 24 hours filled with events, DJ Mix Master Mike will take stage during “The MAIN Event” hosted by Quiddity Entertainment.

MainX24 has been a growing event since 2007, constructed by Southside citizens and community leaders. Each year, a large party is thrown to top off the day’s events.

Last year’s event, “InHabit”, brought in close to 2,000 people and raised funds for Habitat for Humanity. This year’s party, “The MAIN Event”, will feature DJ Mix Master Mike. It will be used as a benefit for a designated Southside community neighborhood. The chosen Southside community will receive a day of community service and beautification executed by YPAC, the Young Professionals Association of Chattanooga.

“We’re hoping to show Chattanooga an awesome time, while also benefiting the community” said Ongeleigh Gipson, event organizer with Quiddity Entertainment. “This is our opportunity to give back to the Southside community and also work side-by-side with local businesses; we’re excited about that.”

A variety of Main Street restaurants will provide food for patrons during the beginning hours of the event. Elements reflecting the energy and progression of Main Street will be demonstrated as décor’ throughout the venue.

Mix Master Mike (Michael Schwartz) is known for his title in the DMC World DJ Championships and his work on The Beastie Boys albums “Hello Nasty” and “To The 5 Boroughs”.

Along with Mix Master Mike, Chattanooga’s The Distribution, will play as an opening act to get the party started. The Distribution is a funk-jazz band who will play a special “cover” set along with original material.

Tickets to The MAIN Event can be purchased at www.TheMainEventChatt.com. There are three tiers for ticket pricing: $20 ticket with two free drinks, $30 ticket with unlimited drinks, and $20 ticket for under 21-year-olds. Patrons must be 18 years old to enter the event.

The event will take place at 100 Main St., the old Hills Floral Warehouse across from Battle Academy. Doors will open at 9 p.m. and the party will end at 2 a.m. For any other questions, visit the event website.

This event is a part of the annual MainX24 schedule, which can be viewed at www.MainX24.com
