I would describe the menu as upscale Mexican. They even prepare Guacamole tableside. The server rolls a cart with a large bowl of fresh avocados to your table, opens them, scoops out the inside and mixes the guacamole right there ($9.95 for a large bowl). I thought the salsa was very good, and Wayne enjoyed the special hot salsa.
Wayne ordered the beef enchiladas (two for $10.95; three for $13.95). I ordered the Plato Del Mar ($19.95) which consisted of four jumbo Brochette-style shrimp, chicken fajitas with guacamole and pico de gallo. All items were served with charro beans and rice.
We were both pleased with the rice; very moist. My shrimp was delicious – stuffed with cheeses, wrapped in bacon, then grilled. The side of fajitas was excellent – beef and chicken with a few onions, peppers and tomatoes. I hate it when you can barely find the meat in a huge pile of onions and peppers. You could really taste the smokiness of the meat.
There was a bit of a mix-up with Wayne’s order. He wanted to try one of the tacos so decided to order a taco on the side. When his enchilada plate arrived, so did a full order of tacos! Both plates were complete with rice and beans. Needless to say he had plenty to bring home! He said the enchiladas were very flavorful with plenty of chili con carne, cheese and onions.
The service was excellent with our server being attentive, but not intrusive.
The menu consists of plenty of soups, salads and appetizers, while the entrees offer items such as Baja Fish Tacos, Quail, Tilapia Filets, and the usual fare of fajitas, burritos, and desserts. There are also luncheon specials from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Monday through Sunday.
Hours for Pappasito’s Cantina are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m.
