Soddy Daisy MS Student Helping Spread Thanksgiving Cheer
posted November 13, 2009

Tucker Willson, a Soddy Daisy Middle School student, has embarked on his own campaign to spread Thanksgiving cheer.

School officials said he was participating in his school’s canned food drive for those less fortunate in the area. During the drive to create 10 baskets of fixings for Thanksgiving dinner, Tucker remarked that it would not be Thanksgiving without a turkey. So he and his mother, Lisa, called the Soddy Daisy Bi-Lo and store officials agreed to donate 20 turkeys.

As such, the project ballooned to 21 baskets and the Willsons embarked on a donation frenzy. So far Tucker and his mother have secured 20 turkeys, 25 boxes of cake mix, 25 containers of cake icing, 25 boxes of stuffing, 25 boxes of potatoes and 25 cans of green beans in addition to 250 other types of canned goods.

The baskets are being given out next Friday.
