A Rhea County teacher's assistant has been arrested in Chattanooga on drug charges.

Brittany Arnold and Michael Massingill were arrested after a traffic stop Sunday around 11:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Bailey Avenue.

Police said they found crack cocaine and marijuana in the vehicle.

Officers said they carried out the search after Massingill, who was in the back seat, began eating marijuana in front of them - apparently to try to destroy evidence.

Officers late found 13 grams of crack in a search of Ms. Arnold after seeing her trying to conceal something in her pants.

Police confiscated her 2008 Mazda SUV as well as cash.
