Dr. Guo Speaks To Signal Mountain Lions About Exercise For Disabled by Ruth Robinson posted November 20, 2009
Dr Guo has spent many years working with Tai Chi Chuan and has developed a program of seated Tai Chi Chuan which is gaining in popularity. The exercise provided by Tai Chi Chuan for those in wheel chairs gives not only physical and psychological assistance, it also builds a good feeling of accomplishment and confidence. Dr. Guo took his program to China in 2007 where hundreds participated in his programs. Then in 2008 he returned to China for the Paralympica Festival where hundreds again participated. With the help of slides taken in China, he demonstrated the way in which the wheelchair-bound can have fun while enhancing their health. Dr. Guo was introduced by Jim Wade, former president. Wade also was honored at the meeting by recognition that he received a rare award at the recent District 12-0 Fall Conference, the President's Excellance Award for his work as president of the Signal Mountain Lions Club last year. The speaker for the Tuesday, Nov. 24, 6:30 p.m. meeting at Mountain Arts Community Center will be Dr. Greg Dingwall, Lions District 12-0 Governor. |
