Chattanooga State Takes 2 Wins posted November 21, 2009 Chattanooga State basketball played fast and furious Saturday afternoon as the Lady Tigers (4-2, 3-1) beat the Jackson women 70-63 and the Chattanooga State (4-1, 3-1) men ran away and hid from the Jackson Generals 100-67. Sophomore sensation PJ Meyers tossed in 15 points while Alex Wells dropped in four 3 pointers scoring 16 on the afternoon. Long tall Philip Jurick controlled the paint and scored 16 as the Tiger men reached the 100 point mark with 30 seconds left in the game. Michael Williams hit for 9 while David Ware and Rayshawn Walker each had 8. Hannah Powers teamed up with Beneidra Colbert in leading the Lady Tigers to an inspired win. Each scored 15, followed by Kim Manning who had 12 and Sha’Cola Clay with 10. The Tiger men travel to Maryville College for an away game on Monday November 23. Both the men and women are back for home action on Wednesday December 2 to take on Northwest Shoals. Game time is 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. All home games are played in the Health and Fitness Center on the campus of Chattanooga State. Admission is free. |
