The sixth annual Maytag Spring Swing Auction and Golf Classic will be Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17.
The familiar faces of Maytag, Ol’ Lonely and the Apprentice will be visiting Cleveland and Chattanooga to assist with the event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee as well as to say “hello” to fellow employees at the Maytag Cooking Products Plant and Consumer Service Center.
Ol’ Lonely, Maytag’s lonely repairman and brand icon for the last 35 years (Gordon Jump, of “WKRP in Cincinnati” fame) along with his new Apprentice (Mark Devine) will present the first of four checks from Maytag to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee, help with the live and silent auction, kick off the golf classic, and then stop by the Cleveland Maytag Plant and Consumer Service Center to say hello to their “coworkers.” Both Ol’ Lonely and the Apprentice will even answer calls from Maytag customers who have questions about their Maytag appliances.
More than $100,000 has been raised through the event and this year promises to be no exception. This past January, Maytag announced a $100,000 donation to help purchase, completely renovate and name a new Wish House in Chattanooga. To show support and dedication to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee, Maytag’s Ol’ Lonely and the Apprentice will be joining in the festivities and fun.
