Tom Brown is stepping down as president of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga after taking the post in January.
Mr. Brown, 57, cited health problems and the difficulty of commuting to his home in Florida.
United Way here recently had to extend the fundraising campaign before making the goal at the lowest level of three tiers.
Mr. Brown previously headed United Ways at Oklahoma City, Lakeland, Fla., and Springfield, Mo.
He lives at Cape Coral, Fla.
