Hudson Jr., Lucius

Lucius P. "Lou" Hudson Jr., 55, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, as a result of injuries suffered in a bicycling accident in Trenton, Ga.

Known as "Lou" to his family and friends, he was a respiratory therapist at Parkridge Medical Center.

A 1966 graduate of McCallie School, he was a company commander and outstanding athlete. Considered by many to be one of the greatest schoolboy wrestlers ever to come out of the South, he was a four-time Mid-South champion, national prep champion, as well as a Mid-South and Chattanooga city one meter springboard diving champion.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, he was a member of the Tribe of Michigama and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was a Big Ten wrestling champion.

Mr. Hudson was an accomplished swimmer, water skier, golfer and scuba diver. He was a volunteer at the Chattanooga Aquarium. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, biking and camping in his backyard teepee with his son.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lucius P. Hudson Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Anne Scott Hudson, and his son, Nash; his mother, Dorothy Pearson Hudson of Chattanooga; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol H. and Howard Childers of Bel Air, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, Philip Christopher Hudson and Denise Harrison of Wilmington, N.C.; a niece and nephew, Dorothy Childers and Foster Childers of Bel Air, Md.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McCallie School Sustaining Fund.
