Ray Marsh, Founder Of Tri-State Crematory, Dies posted May 20, 2003 Ray Marsh, who started the Tri-State Crematory where 339 uncremated bodies were found last year, died Tuesday. The Marsh family called an ambulance about 10:30 a.m., saying he was suffering heart problems. Officials said he had no pulse by the time emergency workers arrived. He was pronounced dead at Hutcheson Hospital in Fort Oglethorpe. He and his wife, Clara, had turned the crematory over to their son, Ray Brent Marsh, in early 1997. Investigators say the bodies found date from that time period until just before the gruesome discovery. All of the Marshes face a plethora of civil lawsuits, and Brent Marsh has numerous felony charges. Attorneys had sought to get Ray and Clara Marsh dismissed from the case, saying they had not been responsible. The Marshes continue to live at the crematory property at Noble, Ga. |
