Jenkins Hat Trick Leads Lady Scots
posted October 4, 2003

Bristol, TN - Senior forward Suzanne Jenkins' three goals led the Covenant College women's soccer team to a 3-2 conference road win at King College.

The Lady Scots (6-2-1, 4-1-1) scored first when Jenkins was assisted by freshman Amy Smrcina with 25:43 left in the first half. King College (1-8, 1-3) tied it on a goal by Katrina Freking with 7:43 left, and the teams remained tied at the half, 1-1.

Jenkins broke the tie with 10:15 left in the game off a penalty kick and then scored off another Smrcina pass, for a breakaway goal, to make it 3-1 with 7:15 left. The Lady Tornado's Annie Lavinder scored with 2:52 left, off a re-start, to pull within one goal, but the Lady Scots finished off King for the 3-2 victory.

Covenant continues to battle for the conference title, and plays at Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday afternoon and then hosts Cumberland College in a non-conference homecoming game, next Saturday afternoon.
