A home was destroyed by fire in the Dallas Bay area Tuesday afternoon.

The homeowner called 9-1-1 around 1 p.m. reporting heavy smoke at 1949 Light Tower Circle in the Hidden Harbor Subdivision. Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived within minutes.

Dallas Bay Captain Alvin Rosamond said the attic and roof were fully involved when the first units arrived on the scene. Due to the size and complexity of the fire, Captain Rosamond requested a mutual aid response. Soddy-Daisy Fire Department and Red Bank Fire Department responded on the mutual aid assignment.

According to Captain Rosamond, the location of where the fire started was determined to be in the chimney. The chimney’s insulation ignited and spread fire throughout the attic.

Damages are estimated to be $85,000 and no injuries were reported.

Dallas Bay VFD was assisted by Soddy-Daisy Fire Department, Red Bank Fire Department, Hamilton County EMS and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
