City Sets Hearing On Deannexing Cash Canyon Road posted December 5, 2003 The City Council has set a hearing for Tuesday on deannexing the Cash Canyon Road area in Lookout Valley. That area includes over 1,300 acres and its road requires major repairs, officials said. The move would put responsibility for the road back on Hamilton County government. All citizens of the affected area would have to agree to the deannexation, which would bring lower property taxes but might cause an insurance premium increase. City Councilman John Lively said the area probably should not have been annexed in the first place. It was taken into the city about 20 years ago. Cost of fixing the road, which is narrow and washes away at certain sections, is put at over $1 million. |
