Monteagle Cemetery Association Celebrates 100-Year Anniversary
posted May 11, 2004

The Monteagle Cemetery Association will have a Homecoming/Memorial Service on May 29 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. to celebrate the Association’s 100-year anniversary.

Reverend Andy Perry, Morton Memorial United Methodist Church of Monteagle and Reverend Eddie Miller, First Baptist Church of Monteagle, will lead the pavilion Memorial Service at 11 a.m.

Family and friends alike are invited to bring lawn chairs and visit as well as decorate the gravesites of those loved ones of years past and present whose final resting place is cared for by the association.

The Monteagle Cemetery Association was founded on May 30, 1904 to sell gravesites and evolved in 1997 to fund the perpetual care of this historic and revered cemetery and is currently making long-term plans to provide the same level of care for future generations.

Tables will be set up at the Pavilion with a map, receipt books and other information that will be helpful to all of those who attend the Homecoming/Memorial Service. Donations are encouraged and will go to assisting the perpetual care efforts being continued by the Association.
