John Dearing Denney, 91, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Southerland Denney.
He was a Christian, member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church. He was retired from CARTA where he was employed as a hostler for 35 years. He was associated with TSSAA for 35 years.
He lived at the Glenwood NHC complex with his wife, Priscilla Hodges Denney, who survives him.
He is also survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd D. and Carol Denney of Dalton, Ga., John M. and Rose Denney of Chattanooga, Dexter F. and Phyllis Denney of Davenport, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Gary Akin officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6–9 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice or to Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church in memory of John Dearing Denney.
Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, East Chapel.
