A student who died after climbing out the window of a school bus wanted to hurry home to get on the computer first, according to a police report.
Rocky Joe Dockery died Saturday morning after the incident last Friday afternoon. He was a student at Bradley Central High School.
The report says detectives went to the school as a follow-up to the investigation.
A student who was on the bus said Rocky Dockery "wanted to get home first because he wanted to have access to the home computer before anyone else did."
He stated that if the bus driver did not stop at Goodwill Road, he was going to climb out the window and hang on until the bus stopped. He said he then was going to jump down and run home.
Investigators said the student went to the bus driver and asked to be let off at Goodwill Road. The bus driver said she could not.
The student said, "-- it, I'll jump."
He went to the third window on the passenger side of the bus, stuck one leg out the window and then the other. He was hanging out the window with both hands from the outside of the bus when he lost his grip and fell to the roadway.
The report says bus driver Ada Hastings was in the process of stopping the bus when he fell.
She stopped the bus and went to his aid. Doyle Herron, who was driving a bus behind that one, also stopped and called 911 from his cell phone. He witnessed the student falling.
He ran and assisted the other bus driver until EMS arrived.
