Estate Planning Seminar Offered At Memorial Hospital
posted November 1, 2004

Alan L. Cates, a shareholder in the law firm of Shumacker Witt Gaither & Whitaker, will present an estate planning seminar in the Community Rooms at Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 3-4:30 p.m. This seminar is free and open to the public.

“We are so fortunate to have someone of Alan’s caliber share his knowledge of estate planning,” says Memorial Foundation President Dan Bowers. “People who have attended previous seminars have been incredibly appreciative of Alan and the information he shared.”

Cates, a University of Tennessee Law School graduate, has practiced law since 1975. Prior to that, he was a Planned Giving Officer at the university for three years.

“He brings a wealth of experience to these seminars,” Bowers says. “Alan is in high demand all over the country. He has a wonderful style and the ability to take a subject that could be complex and boring and make it easy to understand and interesting.”

Mr. Cates presentations include basic information such as planning a will, as well as explanations of more advanced topics such as trusts and annuities.

For more information concerning the seminar or to request a brochure about estate planning, call the Memorial Foundation office at 495-GIFT(4438).
