Evangelical Vote Made The Difference
posted November 3, 2004

It strikes me this morning that the fundamental difference in this election was the widespread vote of “evangelical” Christians. Church going people made the difference. The main issue was that of marriage. An issue easy to support, an issue that people feel very strongly about, and an issue that would undermine the whole fabric of this great nation. Christians finally made a stand and for that I am very grateful and proud. My children will live in a society that values the traditional and Biblical model of family. This was not a white, black, male, or female issue-voters were widespread in their defense of traditional marriage.

Democrats are questioning what happened in the South. I would answer that their catering to specific groups of people in an effort to swing votes has been detrimental to their once conservative Southern base. Their treatment of Christian voters as “irrational”, “sticklers”, “Bible thumpers” has ironically hurt them in their efforts to regain the southern vote.

I thank God this morning that the majority of Americans overwhelmingly have defended marriage. I thank Him that Christians went to the polls and voted. I thank Him that we finally have a voice, and made a difference in this great country. The Democrats, and the media need to seriously consider the Christian vote in the future.
