Sue Hawk said the gun collection that was found at the home of her son, Bill Hawk, actually belongs to her. Bill Hawk is facing federal weapons charges.
Sue Hawk's lawyer, Jeff Hollingsworth, said, "William Hawk did not inherit the gun collection from his father. The gun collection was specifically left to Sue Hawk."
He said the guns wound up in the possession of Bill Hawk.
On a statement by attorney Mike Richardson that Bill Hawk did not like the fact that Sue Hawk “built a home for Bob Hawk and his family near her in Ooltewah,” attorney Hollingsworth said, "Mrs. Hawk did not build a home for Bob Hawk. Mrs. Hawk did give both Bob Hawk and William Hawk lots in Forest Creek subdivision, which the family owns. Bob Hawk built his own home on the lot given to him by his mother. William Hawk still owns the lot his mother gave him. The statement that Sue Hawk did more for Bob Hawk than for William Hawk is inaccurate."
Attorney Hollingsworth said, "Mr. Richardson was quoted as saying Mrs. Hawk and William Hawk “hugged and made up” at the mediation. While Mrs. Hawk and her son did speak at the mediation, it is inaccurate to say there was a reconciliation between them."
