An $88,780 grant has been awarded to the city of Soddy-Daisy Volunteer Fire Department under the 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).
The program provides grants to help local fire departments purchase new firefighting equipment, fund firefighter health and safety programs, enhance emergency medical services programs and conduct fire prevention and safety programs.
“It is through the courage and sacrifice of Tennessee’s firemen and women that our towns and communities remain safe and secure,” said Sen. Bill Frist. “This funding will help the department with important firefighter safety protocols, so it can continue to protect the citizens of Soddy-Daisy. I thank the Department of Homeland Security for their continued support of Tennessee’s firefighters.”

"This grant will help give firefighters the vital resources they need to save lives. We will continue to work together to ensure that fire departments in Tennessee are ready and able to keep our citizens safe.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) awards one-year grants directly to fire departments to support the nation's firefighters and the services they deliver. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) administers the program, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
