Hilleary Poll Shows Him With Lead In U.S. Senate Race
posted February 4, 2005

A poll conducted for former U.S. Rep. Van Hilleary showed him with the lead among Republicans in the 2006 U.S. Senate race.

The poll was conducted for Hilleary, a former gubernatorial candidate who has been eyeing a Senate bid, by the Anderson Group, according to the TeamGOP activist group.

The poll has Hilleary with 41 percent to 11 percent for Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker in a two-man race.

In a four-way race that also includes former Congressman Ed Bryant and Rep. Beth Harwell, Hilleary had 31 percent to 18 percent for Bryant, 8 percent for Corker and 2 percent for Harwell.

Without Ed Bryant in the race, the poll results were Hilleary 38 percent, Corker 9 percent and Harwell 4 percent.

The telephone poll was of 400 likely Republican primary voters.
