A UTC student apparently died accidentally of carbon monoxide poisoning while talking on a cell phone while her car was running in her garage.
Cassie Amanda Clements, 21, was found dead early Monday morning.
She shared the house in Red Bank with a sorority sister, officials said.
She had returned about 2 a.m. and shut the garage door after pulling into the basement.
A graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School, she was pursuing both majors in education and the nursing program. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and a longtime employee of Chuck E. Cheese in Hixson.
She was active at Middle Valley Church of Christ, where she worked in VBS and helping with Bible classes. She also was involved in the Inner-City Ministries.
Survivors include her parents, Charlie and Cindy Clements; two sisters, Chelsea Clements and Christy Beach, along with her husband, Matt; two brothers, Chas and Cody Clements; grandparents, Barbara Fugate and Kit C. Davis; greatgrandmother, Mattie Davis; special friend, Tyke Gooden; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be today, Wednesday, at 3 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A private family burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Middle Valley Church of Christ, 1836 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, TN 37343. Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, North Chapel.
