Atlanta Garden Show Blooming With Celebrities
Event at Cobb Galleria Centre Now Through Sunday

It may be cold outside, but the Atlanta Garden & Patio Show is blooming with national and regional speakers through Sunday at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

Celebrities will include HGTV personalities: Bill Duggan, of “Curb Appeal,” Joe Washington of “Ground Breakers” and Erica Glasener of “Gardener’s Diary.” Other include Walter Reeves, GPTV’s (Georgia Public Television) garden guru, Tara Dillard, host of Better Gardening Show on CBS-Channel 46 and Dr. Allan Armitage, renowned-author.

Celebrities will appear on the Horticulture Stage during the four-day extravaganza of landscapes and gardens.

Bill Duggan will appear on stage Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. His presentations will be followed by an autographing session.

Duggan is an actor who enjoys working on home improvement projects, making him a good fit to host the HGTV show, Curb Appeal.

Curb Appeal offers viewers tips for turning great ideas into reality. Each episode features a house and homeowner with guest experts who discuss the owner's needs and propose projects to improve the home's appearance.

Joe Washington, will appear Friday at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Washington is an Emmy award-winning broadcaster and host of HGTV’s primetime landscaping show, Ground Breakers.

Erica Glasener will appear at Noon on Friday and Sunday. Glasener, in addition to her HGTV Show, writes a bi-weekly column on garden design and acts as a contributing editor to Fine Gardening magazine.

Walter Reeves will broadcast his radio show live on Saturday from 6-10 a.m. and lead a seminar on Saturday at noon. Reeves, a 29-year veteran of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service, has hosted this popular radio show for the past sixteen years and has authored books and articles.

Tara Dillard will appear Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Dillard has degrees in both engineering and horticulture. In addition to her TV Show, she is a regular contributor to New South Gardener, and a contributing author to several garden books. She has just released two books of her own, Focal Points and Garden Axes: Bonding House & Garden.

Dr. Allan Armitage will appear Friday at 1:00 p.m. Armitage is an award-winning researcher and author of 10 books, six CD’s and over 350 articles in respected horticulture magazines. He is also in charge of the University of Georgia Horticulture Gardens.

Other seminars from local experts will include: Historic Gardens of the Biltmore Estate by Bruce Ballard, Biltmore’s Chief Horticulturist; Orchid Madness, Jeff Whitfield of the Atlanta Orchid Society and South Metro Orchid Society; Waterfalls for Great Outdoor Living, Todd Angel of Earth Products; Dramatic Garden Lighting, Chris Wakefield of The Outdoor Lights; and Gold Metal Plants, Marco Fonseca of the State Master Gardener Program.
