J.Lo VS PETA
Do Celebrity Voices Count?

The organization, People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, has fired it's latest salvo at Jennifer Lopez.

J.Lo apparently likes fur. As PETA puts it on their web site, "J. Lo has a nasty habit of shamelessly flaunting furs, from her mink eyelashes down to her rabbit-fur footwear."

J.Lo is just the last in a long list of celebrities PETA is using to spread its message.

Dennis Rodman recently appeared in a PETA advertisement supporting the group's cause. You can bet that Rodman is definitely the man I trust to help form my own opinions and values.

On the other hand, I kind of like Martin Sheen. However Sheen was apparently coerced to write a letter on behalf of PETA to try and stop the use of steel traps on national park lands to control nuisance animals.

PETA has blasted Vice President Dick Cheney for his desire to spend more time fishing.

Fortunately the pro-hunting/fishing side has some celebrity of our own. Charleton Heston, Arnold Schwarznegger, Irlene Mandrell, Tom Selleck and dare I mention Ted Nugent.

But I am shamed to allow this battle to degrade into a "Battle of Celebrities." Who can get the most famous people to lend a voice to the cause?

For me hunting and fishing is akin to religion. It is a personal choice driven by what is in one's heart. And it is not my place, or PETA's, nor any celebrity, to tell you what is in your heart.
