Greenlife Grocery furnished Hamilton County Elementary Schools with paper grocery bags to decorate with a colorful environmental message. These bags will be used for groceries purchased by Greenlife shoppers on Earth Day, which is celebrated on Thursday, April 21. The Earth Day Grocery Bag Project is an international education effort, created in 1994 by a third grade teacher in Seattle, Wa. Approximately 1,200 schools have participated in this project across the world and more than 400,000 grocery bags have been decorated. Locally, 1,400 students from eight Hamilton County Elementary Schools participated in this project. The bags will be used at Greenlife Grocery at 1100 Hixson Pike on Thursday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
