John H. Taylor, 79, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in a local nursing facility.
John was born July 4, 1925, to the late Cora King and Frank Taylor. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn C. (Thomas) Smith and Geraldine Mays Smith, both of Chattanooga; three sons, James (Mildred) Grier, San Diego, Calif., Roderick (Nora Jean) Tier, Huntsville, Ala., and William C. Chambers, Chattanooga; granddaughter, Staci Anderson; 14 other grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be Thursday at noon in the chapel with Pastor Robert Allen officiating.
Burial is in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
