Curtis Adams Places Little Value On Annenberg Report
posted June 23, 2005

County Commissioner Curtis Adams said an "outside group was not needed to tell us that Dr. (Jesse) Register needs to communicate better."

Commissioner Adams commented on a report on the Hamilton County Schools central office by the Annenberg Institute.

One recommendation was that the schools get out their message better.

Commissioner Adams said, "Dr. Register sits in his office too much and has dropped the ball on building bridges with the commission and the community."

He said he sent Dr. Register a letter on April 4 suggesting a face to face meeting and has not received an answer.

On the communication issue, Commissioner Adams said, "I hope they don't bring in three or four people and make a big department out of it. What they need instead is one-on-one diplomacy. They need to hit the road."

He said of the study, "I knew where they were headed from the start. You do what Dr. Register wants or otherwise he does not like you."

Commissioner Adams said the report "will please certain people, but I don't see anything very constructive coming out of it."
