Only One Citizen Shows Up For Hearing On Igou Gap Road Widening
posted August 16, 2005

Only one citizen showed up for a hearing on Tuesday afternoon concerning the planned widening of Igou Gap Road between Gunbarrel Road and Gray Road.

Naveed Minhas, city engineer, said the project will have roundabouts at Clearview and at Gray.

He said, "They will not in the true sense be roundabouts, but are designed to slow the traffic."

Mr. Minhas said residents had been concerned about speeders on the widened road, though the speed limit will be 35 miles per hour.

He said the roundabouts will force motorists to slow down to negotiate them.

He also said a hill will be reduced to help improve the safety of the road.

Mr. Minhas said the work should start after about two more months of final design on the $2.3 million project.

The one resident who attended had questions about the roundabout near his home at Clearview. He was assured he will not have to make a U turn in order to head toward Gunbarrel Road.
