WDOD-AM plans to switch on Monday to from adult standards music to a "progressive talk format," officials said Thursday.
AM 1310 “The Voice” will target listeners who hold moderate to liberal political view points, and will be billed as “Modern Talk for Modern Times.”
“Our programming will feature a refreshing, spirited alternative to the overabundance of ultra conservative programs within the market,” Danny Howard, Director of Programming and Operations said.
“For years, talk radio fans have been forced to hear only one side of the political spectrum. We are proud to now offer programming that will represent the views from the other side. We feel that due to the intense division of political ideologies throughout the country that the timing was perfect to unveil this unique version of talk radio to Chattanooga.
"We want to thank the loyal listener ship and sponsors of WDOD-AM throughout its rich history.
It is our belief that Chattanooga is one of the greatest cities in the nation and we are proud to offer
a voice to these viewpoints. We invite all talk radio fans to make the new AM 1310, "The Voice” a part
of their daily lives. We’re confident that this programming will prove successful for listeners as well
as sponsors."

WDOD-AM will air local news, weather and traffic reports as well as a regular series of announcements and reports encouraging citizen to involve themselves in local and national issues to let their voices be heard, officials said.
The station will also continue to be home base for the Chattanooga Lookouts as well as the
local station for the Vanderbilt Sports Network.
WDOD is the city's oldest radio station.
Earl Freudenberg was an early morning staple at the station for four decades, but he recently moved to the Tennessee Temple station, WDYN, 89.7 FM.
