Police Blotter: Woman Robbed, Hit With Stick

A woman told police she was walking to a store on 4th Avenue when two black males in an older model red and white truck pulled a knife on her and made her get in the truck.

She said they demanded money and took $320 from her.

She said one of the robbers had a knife and the other had a stick, and she was struck several times in the arms with the stick.

They took her to an unknown location and dropped her off. Police said she had swelling and abrasions on her left arm and hand.

The midnight shift manager at Summit View on Runyan Drive said a black male evacuee from Louisiana named Ira Lee has been staying in the home. She said he followed her around for an hour, and he advised he is a predator and he ran a white slave ring in Louisiana and preys on women.

Police said Lee told them he is "God" and would not give any further personal information. He said God was his lawyer and he would get the night shift manager fired. Police said they believe Lee needs a mental evaluation.

Daniel Fussell of 861 Vine St. said Peggy Yearwood grabbed him from behind and got him in a headlock.

Ms. Yearwood told police that is what happened, and she did it "because she hates Fussell." The victim said he did not want to prosecute, but would have an order of protection taken against Ms. Yearwood.

A man told police he was run over by a woman driver after a confrontation with her in East Brainerd.

Billy McGowan said he was at McDonald Street waiting to pull out onto E. Brainerd Road when a vehicle pulled up behind him flashing its lights. He said he assumed that since he was in uniform that someone was wanting his assistance.

He said he exited his vehicle and approached the car. The driver, Nancy Crowe, told him that if he did not get out of the way she would go around him. He said he told her that would be reckless driving.

Mr. McGowan said she then cursed him, and he returned to his car. He said she backed up and drove around him. He said he turned around to see her coming past him, and her vehicle struck him in the thigh.

He said, in order to move away from the car, he pushed away, damaging her antenna. Ms. Crowe left the scene, and a warrant was taken against her for aggravated assault.

Police said she has a previous aggravated assault charge.

Police said vandals broke out some 40 stained glass window panes at a church at 4300 10th Ave.

The damage was estimated at $1,000.

Shaneka McQuinn of Hardy Street returned home to find her back door unlocked and some of her belongings missing.

She is missing an X-Box and five X-Box games. She said she recently noticed she was missing a house key.

A resident of Inlet Harbor Lane said she was in her house when she heard her lawn mower being pushed across her driveway.

She said she looked out the front door and saw a white male driving a navy blue Ford Ranger. Her lawn mower was in the back.

A woman said someone broke into her 1994 Toyota Camry while she was attending services at St. Thadeus Episcopal Church on Locksley Lane.

The passenger side window was broken out, and her handbag was missing. The woman said she saw a suspicious vehicle, a white Explorer, enter the parking lot of the church at a high rate of speed and then speed off.

A clerk at the Kangaroo station on E. Brainerd Road said someone drove off without paying for $62.44 worth of gas.

The person was driving a new model black BMW. The vehicle, with a partial tag number of 499 (last 3 digits), drove into the nearby Hurricane Creek subdivision.

Police said clerk Randy Newell reported that a black female refused to pay for 35 cents worth of gas at a convenience store on Shallowford Road.

Police said, "All Mr. Newell wants is for this female to come back and pay for the gas."
