$9 Million Lawsuit Filed In Fire Death Of 3 Children At Poss Homes
posted October 30, 2005

A $9 million Circuit Court lawsuit has been filed in the deaths of three children at Poss Homes on Oct. 11, 2000.

It is filed against the Chattanooga Housing Authority and the city of Chattanooga.

The suit asks $3 million each in the deaths of Justin Nicholson, 4; Tiffany Talley, 11, and their mother, Vanessa.

It was filed by Willie Nicholson and Larry High. Mr. Nicholson and his 18-month-old daughter, Mariah, and 12-year-old step-son, Damien Talley, escaped the blaze from a second-story window.

Vanessa was the wife of Willie Nicholson and the daughter of Larry High.

The victims died from inhalation of smoke and toxic fumes, the complaint says.

It says a number of complaints had been made about faulty wiring, but no corrections were made.

Attorney Archie Sanders of Memphis filed the suit.
