A lucky family of robins may soon be nesting in one of these colorful birdhouses painted by GPS students for Habitat for Humanity. Click to enlarge.
Wielding paintbrushes with creativity and a determination to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, some GPS middle and upper school students were joined by faculty in an afternoon of birdhouse building and decorating.

Polka dots and geometric designs competed with floral motifs and animal décor and even one like a giraffe.

The local chapter of Habitat for Humanity sells the colorful birdhouses as a way to raise money for local construction efforts. Costing $35, they can be purchased from the organization’s downtown offices.

In 2005, GPS joined with McCallie students to build their sixth house for Habitat.

Girls who participated in the community service project were Sarah Wagner, Kathryn Galphin, Hailey Johnston, Suzanne Johannes, Julia Harrison, Miranda Avakian, Haven Howard, Neha Patel, Grey Robinson, Chelsea Askew, Caitlin Barringer, Lauren Barth, Anna Conn, Laura McCandless, and Sasha Saidi.
