Jim Henry Will Not Enter Governor's Race Next Year posted November 2, 2005
He was a candidate in 2002, but lost the Republican primary to Van Hilleary. Mr. Henry said he reached the decision last weekend after discussions with his wife. Mr. Henry, 59, is a former Kingston mayor and state House minority leader who founded the Omnivision firm that finds placement for mentally handicapped children. Potential GOP candidates include Rep. Beth Harwell of Nashville, Senate Majority Leader Ron Ramsey of Blountville, Sen. Jim Bryson of Franklin and Sen. Mark Norris of Collierville. Carl "Two Feathers" Whitaker, a former Independent, said he plans to run as a Republican. |
