posted November 17, 2005

The floodgates open on Friday for next year's assortment of local, state and national political races.

It is the first day for candidates to pick up qualifying petitions for 2006 races.

Charlotte Mullis of the election office said the forms are due back in by noon on Feb. 16. They must have the names of at least 25 registered voters in the area where the votes are cast.
