Annual New Years Day Motorcycle Ride Is Sunday
posted December 30, 2005

The Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA) is scheduled to hold their annual “New Years Day Ride” for all bikers from the old Home Depot on Hwy 153 and Lee Hwy.

Leaving at 1 p.m., the ride will celebrate the New Year by heading on a ride that was nearly 60 miles in 2005.

“We will ride no matter the temperature but if its 15 degrees we just go across the street to get coffee” according to chapter president Harry T. Stone. He continued, “We have this ride every year and we are always blessed with a great opportunity to ride whether if it’s just a few miles or over two hours long. We want to invite everyone to join us.”

This year’s weather appears to be favorable for a great ride according to Mr. Stone, as the current weather forecast looks promising with only a 10% chance of precipitation and a high of near 65 degrees.

In 2001 the ride temperature was bone-chilling 17.

Chapter Road Captain Eddie “Sore Thumb” Wilson will be leading the ride through the Tennessee Valley and North Georgia along the beautiful countryside of the area. Mr. Wilson is also the chapter’s vice-president.

All are welcome and the ride is free, there will be coffee stops and a lunch stop.

Last year over 90 people rode in the event as it went through North Georgia, parts of the Sequatchie Valley and ended at a restaurant for a great meal.

The CMA is an inter-denominational outreach Ministry of over 115,000 members and 870 chapters. The Chattanooga chapter (Choo-Choo Wheels of Worship) has over 60 members. There are area chapters in Chattanooga, Cleveland, Dayton, Dalton, and Rome.
