Senior Olympics - May 7-10 Opening ceremony Wednesday, May 7th at UTC’s McClelland Gym at 1:00 p.m. Athletes as well as sports and fitness enthusiasts ages 50 and up are invited to participate and register now. Events include swimming, basketball free throw, bowling, volleyball, track and field, tennis, billiards, horseshoes, table tennis, softball throw, softball, ballroom dancing, 5K run, cycling, golf, power walk, shuffleboard, badminton, basketball 3 on 3, weightlifting, and racquetball. Ballroom dancing will also return as a competitive event. The top four finalists in each event at the district level will advance to the state competition, July 18-24, 2008, in Williamson County, Tenn. "How to Play Disc Golf" to be held Sunday May 11th come anytime between 1pm & 5 pm to the "Sinks" Disc Golf Course located at 4501 North Access Road across from the old DuPont plant. Children will be instructed in basic throwing techniques, basic fundamentals, basic rules, and where to play for free. Children under 16 will be provided with a Disc to get them started. Let your family experience one of the fastest growing sports in the country with over 2400 courses nation wide and most are free to play. June 3-5, 2008 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m. Ages 6-12 Preregistration fee $100 or $120 the day of camp The camp will cover proper throwing and catching mechanics as well as proper mechanics of pitching, infield,catching and outfield. There will be hitting instruction and drills each day along with baserunning fundamentals. Each player by agegroup will compete in fastest runner, hardest thrower,throw and catch contest and best hustle. For additional information or a camp application, call Coach Simcox at 865-567-9082 or fax to 865-288-3114 Summer Camp Cleveland State Baseball Coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer Baseball Camps: The camps will consist of advanced instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, catching and hitting. Each participant will receive an evaluation sheet from the coaching staff. Cost will be $45.00 per session, or $80.00 for both sessions, which includes a camp t-shirt. Summer Tournaments - Cleveland State Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee. Ages and dates are as follows: All tournaments are four (4) games pool play and championship. Cost for each tournament is $350.00 and a dozen balls. Mustangs Summer Camp “The Mustangs Summer Basketball Camp Series” A Mustangs Middle and High School Camp will be held on June 14 at LaFayette High School. Any player going into their freshman year this year through those who graduated this year are eligible for the camps. The Boys Camp will be held from 10am-1pm. Hamilton YMCA Adult Coed Basketball: Recreational league open to men and women ages 18+. Games are played on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Hamilton YMCA. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 9 games. The First Swing Program was designed to instruct golf pro's, therapists, and other rehabilitation team professionals to teach and encourage people with disabilities to learn or re-learn the game of golf. Storm 97 is the top ranked team in the Chattanooga area, ranked 6th in Tennessee and 20th in Region III and 39th in the nation according to Soccer In College. The Storm has finished Champion in one tournament this year and 2nd in 4 others. In two other tournaments that the Storm 97 girls did not advance to the finals they didn't lose a game in regulation and in one tournament they did not concede a goal in regulation.
