Dog And Cat Die In Morning House Fire

A home was destroyed and two pets were killed by a house fire in the Sequoyah area Thursday morning.

A neighbor made a 9-1-1 call at 8:45 a.m. reporting heavy smoke and fire at 1818 Green Pond Road. Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene confirming a fully involved house fire.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene and assisted Sequoyah VFD with the burning house until Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Dallas Bay VFD arrived on the scene.

According to the neighbor, the homeowner left the house at 7:30 a.m. to take her children to school. She returned home an hour later to find her home engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported. The homeowners did loose a dog and cat who were trapped in the house.

The house is a total loss and damages estimated at $65,000. The cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Sequoyah VFD was assisted by Soddy Daisy Fire Department, Dallas Bay VFD, Hamilton County EMS and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
