Chattanooga Christian School high school students are collaborating with other area high schoolers to build a Habitat house in the Chattanooga area.

CCS students raised more than $5,000 for their anticipated 'share' of the house by selling 'bricks' for $10.85 a piece. A campaign addressed to all high school students encouraged them to buy a brick instead of eating out lunch or buying two mocha coffees or a latte and biscotti.

Working with CCS to build this house are students from Boyd Buchanan, David Brainerd, Notre Dame and Silverdale. Additional funding comes from the Robert L. and Kathrina H. Maclellan Foundation.

Saturday was the first major workday for students. The floor joists and subflooring were cut and nailed into place. The lot and the foundation were prepared ahead of time.

The projected completion date is later this spring. All schools have worked out a schedule of participating times to move towards completion.
