Brother, Sister Pick Up Qualifying Papers For Same Judge Post
posted March 3, 2006

A brother and sister have picked up qualifying papers for the same judgeship in Hamilton County General Sessions Court.

Joey Warwick, an attorney in the law firm of John McMahan, earlier picked up qualifying papers for the Division II seat.

Mary Sullivan Warwick Moore, a prosecutor in the district attorney's office, picked up papers for the same seat on Thursday.

Attorney Warwick said when he qualified, his sister was leaning against a race. "Then she called me this week and said she was running."

Attorney Warwick, who has mainly a civil practice, said his main interest is in reforming the civil division of the court. General Sessions Court judges hear both civil and criminal cases.

Attorney Moore said she plans to stay in the district attorney's office through April 7, which is a day after the qualifying deadline. She said she has a responsibility to try a child rape case on April 4, saying it has been passed seven times.

Neither attorney Warwick nor Moore have yet returned their qualifying papers.

David Bales, who was appointed to that seat by the County Commission after Judge Mike Carter resigned to go into private business, is also running.

Attorney Hallie McFadden has also qualified.
