Adams To Recommend Mayor Vince Dean

The County Commission will name a replacement for Rep. Jack Sharp at its meeting on March 30.
Commissioner Curtis Adams said he will recommend East Ridge Mayor Vince Dean, who is a Republican like Rep. Sharp.
Rep. Sharp died Sunday after a long struggle with lung cancer. He was 70.
Commission Chairman Larry Henry said those interested in the District 30 position can contact commissioners individually.
March 30 is the next scheduled meeting of the commission. It is an agenda session, but the commission is in recess so it will be able to take action on the appointment.
Commissioner Adams said Mr. Dean "has been on the East Ridge City Council for eight years, and he stepped in as mayor after the death of Fred Pruett."
He said he has been with the city police department for 25 years and is nearing retirement.
He said he is involved in the music program at Frawley Road Baptist Church and is an excellent vocalist.
Commissioner Adams said, "He is committed to public service. He makes excellent decisions. I don't think any one would oppose him."
The appointee will serve until the election in November.
