The Chattanooga Chess Club has organized a chess tournament to held at the Clarion Hotel downtown on March 18 and 19.
The Rea Hayes Open Chess Tournament will be the first homegrown chess competition of its size in Chattanooga in over 10 years.
Named after the late Mr. Rea Hayes, Chattanooga chess notable and member of the Tennessee Chess Hall of Fame, this US Chess Federation sanctioned event will attract players from all over the region. International Master Stanislav Kriventsov and Master Todd Andrews will be participating in the Open section.
A non-rated Scholastic section is formatted to attract all young players interested in playing for trophies and ribbons.
All players, young and old, interested in participating may submit an entry form at www.chattanoogachess.org or mail the entry form to the Chattanooga Chess Club, PO Box 1102, Chattanooga, TN 37401.
