posted March 20, 2006

A house on Morgan Avenue suffered extensive damage when fire broke out on Monday morning.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to the house fire at 2806 Morgan Ave. at 11:17 a.m.

Lt. Denny Smith with Engine 9 said thick smoke was visible when they arrived on the scene. The firefighters worked to quickly extinguish the flames, but Lt. Smith said the damage was extensive. The loss was estimated at around $30,000.

The resident of the house, described as an elderly female, did not appear to have any fire-related injuries, but she was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS for observation.
