Fire damaged a house in the Park City neighborhood Friday afternoon.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 12:34 p.m. and responded to 2818 Cannon Ave. with several fire companies.

Battalion Chief Mike Knox said the front of the house was engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Chattanooga firefighters quickly attacked the fire inside and got the blaze out in minutes. No injuries were reported.

Captain Lesley Cole with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental, most likely from an overloaded extension cord. The loss was estimated at around $15,000.

The resident of the home, Ira Hall, was at a nearby neighbor's house when the fire was discovered. His wife was away at work. Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called in to provide assistance to the victims.
